Doing it yourself is probably a great measure of self sufficiency. How many things can you do your self from start to finish using only your hands and the materials available around your backyard farm?

If you have access to some simple hand tools and some raw material it is quite amazing what can be built with one's own hands. It is also interesting that when it comes to agriculture the methods may have changed but the problems remain the same.

In many cases tools that worked in the 1800's may be sufficient to take on a chore in the 21st century. In the "Do It Yourself" section of Redbay Farm I show how someone like myself, with minimal mechanical or carpentry skills can produce workable homemade solutions for common problems.

I've collected a variety of plans that might be of interest. They are available below.

I've provided a variety of topics for you to review. Some you might want to use and some you might want to stow away for a later date.

Just remember to be very careful when you do it yourself...one slip of a knife, a fall off a ladder or a moment of inattention while operating a power tool can lead to a life time of misery and regret.
