Red Bay Farm Doghouse Chicken Tractor TOOLS Wire cutting pliers Hammer Screwdriver Tape measure MATERIALS 3 -10' rolls of cage wire 1 - Medium sized plastic two piece square dog house 2 - 12 foot treated 2 X 4 boards 1- Box of 100 small hog nose rings and crimping tool 2 - Bungee cords (one long to hold top on doghouse and one short to hold front door closed) 1 - 10 foot piece of cord 1 - Box of small galvanized fence staple, deck screws or nails to assemble rail framework, Nuts and bolts and scrap wood as described in article. ******************************** ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Building the Coop - Refer to the pictures on this page. Step 1 - Unroll and flatten each 10' roll of wire. Work on a large flat surface like a deck, patio or driveway and stand on the wire to flatten it out. Step 2 - Take two 10 foot pieces of wire and make a 90 degree in these dimensions 7.5'long x 2.5' wide Step 3 - Join the two L-shaped pieces of wire with hog nose rings Step 4 - Attach the wire to the to the 12' long 2 X 4s with fence staples. -- Attach the wire so that the wire will be on the inside of the rails. Leave enough room at one end of the 12 ' long 2 X 4 so that the doghouse can sit on top of the rails. -- See picture in article for reference. Step 5 - Put in rail 2 X 4 cross members for cage. -- The crossmembers should be approximately 30" long...measure and cut to fit. -- Attach wire to cross members using fence staples Step 5 - Put ~7.5 (measure for fit) foot piece of wire on top of the cage walls and attach with hog nose rings. -- Save 2.5' piece for chicken tractor door. Step 6 - Use wire pliers to cut openings in back and front of cage. Make the openings just big enough for a chicken to get in and out of the cage. -- Use scrap wire from cutting cage top to make entry door for chicken tractor -- Use scrap wire resulting from cutting front door for the coop entry door -- Use hog nose rings to attach doors (on top edge for coop entry and side of cage for cage entry) -- The rings will act as a hinge.
